Our Experience
Chris Batterbee MD has been involved with vehicle locks for 30 years and prior to establishing L4V designed and developed the Scorpion Lock range. Andrew Dunley, Sales Director has a wealth of vehicle security industry experience, with over 25 years experience in senior positions with Simba, Maple and ADT.

The Team
In addition to the 2 Directors of L4V a design engineer and technical engineer ensure that new locking kits for new models are quickly produced while constantly re- evaluating existing product. As important are the 4 people in the build room whose dedication and attention to detail ensures that door specific kits are dispatched “same day” with full instructions.

The Product
Class leading Slamlocks and Deadlocks are at the core of L4V product range. The cylinders are made by Assa Abloy the largest lock manufacturer in the world. The quality of production was deemed “very high” by the MIRRC at Thatcham. The cylinders are manufactured exclusively to our demanding specification. In addition, a limpet type lock is in its final stage of development. The product has been designed to address our take on the shortcomings of this type of product. Also available are a lock repair module, electronic locks and a roller shutter lock. Cable rather than rods are utilised in the Slamlock kits, which are vehicle and door specific.

Custom designed products are also produced - please see our Product section for more information

Kits come with detailed instructions and pictures plus all necessary fittings. These, along with a short training session, (if required) de-mystify the installation process and ensure that workshop staff can effectively and profitably install. A custom punch is also available to ease and speed the install process along with a range of other useful tools.

Attention to Detail
It is often the little things that make all the difference. Below is by no means complete list of some of them:

  • All our Lock kits are vehicle door specific and have all required Fixtures and Fittings
  • Detailed and clearly printed instructions accompany every kit
  • All cylinders and housings are plated in highly durable satin nickel
  • Bezels are manufactured from stainless steel

You should know...
L4V’s T series lock is the only automotive lock to be Thatcham Accredited. It is accredited in both Slamlock and Deadlock versions (Certificates available). The “Defender” is similarly accredited by Thatcham.

Perhaps our greatest reference is the security aftermarket, which has made our range of locks industry leaders. In addition major fleet users such as Business Post, DHL (not exclusively) and E-on fit thousands of our locks between them. The Government Dispatch agency specifies our locks. VW (GB) purchases our locks and fits them on Caddy, LT and Crafter through their van centres.
